Youth
Our young people meet on a Friday night (surprise!) between about 7.30-9.30pm. They have a number of outings and special events especially during the summer. At the moment one of our former Youth, now a thoroughly responsible adult, Nathan Fairhead, is in New Zealand on a short term Operation Mobilisation expedition. Our current youth leader is Jenny Tempier - when we can get her to pose for a photograph we will put one here! Jenny has been training for youth leadership by bringing up her teenage daughter Carmella! She has just taken on this responsibility, and will need your prayers - when you have seen our young people you will understand why!! (Joking) She is helped by Roy who has returned to help us after some time away at uni.
Our young people are of course, as you would expect, noisy, rude, and lazy. Don't say we didn't warn you. They play horrible music, wear weird clothes and tend to giggle during services. But we do like them nevertheless and it has been rumoured that some of the older church members were once young people. None of the young people believe this.
In
a moment of madness we recently allowed our youth to redesign,
redecorate and refurbish the upstairs hall, and occasionally they let
adults use it as long as
we don't make too much of a mess. Can you guess where
the pews are in these pictures? To be quite honest - we don't
understand much of what goes on up there - but they seem to enjoy it.
